Ákos 50 Tour

In April 2018, Ákos, the Kossuth Prize-winning singer-songwriter, turns 50, and at the same time celebrates the 30th anniversary of the start of his career.

Acoustic music encompasses a musical style that exclusively or predominantly uses instruments that produce an acoustic sound, rather than electric or electronic music.

About the artist: Ákos Kovács is a Kossuth Prize-winning Hungarian songwriter, composer and poet (five volumes published to date), and a singer and performing artist under the name Ákos. He is one of the defining performers of the Hungarian music scene and directs his own music videos.

He has appeared in a television film, works in theatres (Vígszínház: Brecht – Baal [music written on commission]; Madách Theatre: the production Oliver; National Theatre: the production Revans) and performs at literary reading evenings. For the Disney film Tarzan he produced the Hungarian translation of Phil Collins's songs and then recorded the vocals himself. Under the title „A hét parancsszó” he created a radio play from his own poems with Attila Kaszás, and later also recorded an audiobook of short stories by Gyula Krúdy.

It was in his studio that the Kossuth Prize-winning storyteller András Berecz recorded his album Felítő. On the poetry record released for the 125th anniversary of Mihály Babits's birth, he recites poems alongside actors such as Károly Mécs, István Sztankay and Károly Eperjes. He also features on the recording of the audiobook Bencés humor in the company of Péter Blaskó and Anna Kubik. For the 60th anniversary of the 1956 revolution, film director Attila Szász made a commemorative short film; its music was composed by Ákos, who invited opera singer Erika Miklósa to take part in the recordings.

Singer, lyricist and composer of the former band Bonanza Banzai, and later a popular and prolific performer as a solo artist too, from the nineties to the present day. He works in his own studio, and his albums are released by his own record label. Besides singing, Ákos also plays acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser and drums. In addition to his own concerts, he is a headline act at many Hungarian festivals.

We could go on at length listing his work to date. In recognition of his countless achievements, he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 2002.

He speaks two foreign languages, English and Italian. He is married; his wife is Krisztina Őry. He is the father of four children: Márton (1998), Anna (2002), Kata (2005) and Júlia (2010).
